From the Principal
The summer vacation is over and we have begun another school year. I anticipate this year to be exciting and productive. There are many new faces at L-E. We have 470 ninth graders and new teachers and staff joining our talents and energy to make this the best school year ever! Our laptop project offers many opportunities for students, teachers, and parents. With every student having a laptop computer, the use of technology and electronic communication are critical to instruction. I encourage parents to join us in using this technology. Learn the functions and capacities of our e-Chalk system. This system can greatly enhance the partnership between parents, teachers, and students in the instructional and learning process. I would also like to encourage you to sign up to receive weekly announcement via email by clicking on the link on this web page. Many changes are happening to the school’s physical facility. This year we will be completing our construction. I ask your patience with the inconveniences this construction may bring. Let us focus on the wonderful new facilities we will enjoy in the future and be flexible and understanding. This year we will be starting a school-wide program of redesign and improvement called “High Schools That Work.” There are ten key practices in the program. One of the first practices that we will focus on will be High Expectations – motivate more students to meet high expectations by integrating high expectations into classroom practices and giving students frequent feedback. You will be hearing more about this program as the year progresses. Working together I know we will have a wonderful school year. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you. Tommy Gladden
