From the Principal

We are looking forward to a great school year for 2013-2014. We continued to Lead by Example after recently earning an Excellent rating on the school report card. LEHS also earned the  Palmetto Gold Award attaining high levels of performance.

We continue to lead with our integration of technology as students will be assigned a new HP Elitebook to prepare the for college and careers with 21st century skills.  LEHS has expanded our students’ technology expertise by integrating Google for Education. The use of Google Drive allows for the latest collaborative and interactive learning.  We are very excited about using the latest technologies to engage our learners and make them more active partners in their education.

We are expanding our dual credit offerings this year through our work with Central Carolina Technical College.  This year we are adding more sections and offerings. Many of our students are taking advantage of this.  Just last year we had 52 students earn over 12 college hours.  One student earned 28 college hours.

We will be adding a chorus teacher this year to expand our music program. This is a wonderful addition to complement our performing arts program.  With the work with our feeder schools our performing arts program will continue to be a strength of Lugoff-Elgin High School.

As always, we invite all parents to be involved in their child’s/children’s academic success.  From our homepage, you can access the Power Schools Parent Portal (by clicking “Check Grades Online” under District Information) and you can monitor your student’s progress in their classes. If you do not currently have a Parent Portal login, please bring a current state-issued ID to the school to sign-up for access.

Classroom Spotlight

Digital Media Marketing students in Mrs. Kimberly Wiggins's class developed radio commercial podcasts to promote a variety of "invented" products. The students had a lesson on how to use Audacity and Soundzabound with Ms. Anne Lemieux in the Media Center.  The students then used the Audacity software to develop the commercials, and they had a great time learning all the new skills necessary to show off their creativity with this fun digital marketing tool! Great job!
